Cornwall's Rewind Radio’s Richard Woods (Managing Director), Shaun Ford (Operations Director) and their two friends Roy and Jamie, are setting out on an extraordinary challenge — a 3,500-mile rally across Europe in just 10 days.
They’ll be driving the Cornwall's Rewind Radio van through multiple countries as part of the Banger or Bust Rally – Monopoli or Bust, pushing themselves and their vehicle to the limit. And it’s all for a cause very close to their hearts: raising vital funds for HD Livin’, a local charity supporting people with Huntington’s Disease (HD) and Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Why They Are Doing It,
HD Livin’ has a bold mission: to create a dedicated respite centre in Cornwall, giving relief and care to people with HD and MND, while also supporting their families.
Richard Woods explains:
“This is our third year fundraising for HD Livin’, a charity born out of love and necessity. Our dream is to create a respite centre here in Cornwall: a safe haven where families can find relief, and where those suffering can be cared for with dignity, compassion, and hope.
So far, with incredible support, we’ve raised over £100,000 alongside HD Livin’ founder Tony Lomas. We’re now in active talks to secure land and a building we can transform into this much-needed centre.
The urgency has never felt more real. One of our own Directors, Shaun, has recently been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease — a cruel, terminal condition that gives every child of an affected parent a 50% chance of inheriting the faulty gene.
This fight is personal. It is heartbreaking. And we cannot do it alone. We need your help to turn hope into reality.”
